MEETING MINUTES/AUGUST 11, 2009

 

 

Call to Order:         The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Club President John Reese.

Minutes:                   Motion made, and seconded to approve the July 14, 2009 minutes.

 

Treasurer:               Jim Poe reported that the balance in the account is $2,529.99  

 

Secretary:               Kathy Reese reported she will be starting medical treatments on Tuesdays and will be unable to attend future meetings.  The job consists of taking the minutes and making up the agenda.  She will still be able to do the agenda and Barbara Rogers offered to do the minutes for the Sept, Oct & Nov meetings.

 

Clothing:                  Barbara Collier, e-mail her for any orders.

 

Webmaster:            Pete Ruff, nothing to report.

 

Raffle Organizers:    Patty McCoy & Bob Graham, nothing to report.

 

Club Historian:          Keith Becky, not present.

 

Old Business:         PDX at Thunderhill – Will Gilliland not present to report.

 

                             Sacto Law Enforcement Mem’l Rally - Harlain Dains not present to report.

 

Hooked on Driving at Thunderhill – Hosted by Larry Savio.  John Reese reported he attended on Thursday and there were about 30-40 cars.  Average speed about 90 mph..

 

                            

New Business:     Bowling Green Run now hosted by Carla Grube.  We are now joining with the western caravan. 

                            

                             Ice House Run – Bob Naylor not present to report.

 

                             BBQ at Lotus Park – George Goolsby will be barbequing again.  $2.50 per person with more details later.

 

                             Show-N-Shine Fly in Cameron Park will be hosted by Tom Krakker.    Tom says you should pre-register to save $5 and meet at the KFC at 7:00-7:15 a.m.   Proceeds to go to local charities.  Tilt-ups to go directly over cars only.

 

                             Jets & Vettes III in Alameda hosted by Skip & Carla Grube.  George Goolsby will lead the group down from Cameron Park to meet up with Skip & Carla.

 

                             Crab Shack Dinner in Old Sac.  George Goolsby will host this event if people are interested.  More details at a later date.

 

                             Placerville Christmas Parade will be hosted by George Goolsby.

 

                             Christmas Party –  Vicki Braithwaite says everything is in place but she is still working on the band.  Will probably use the band from last year but will ask them to turn the sound down and include some slow songs.

 

 

Floor Open to Members:

 

                             George Goolsby is organizing a lunch run to the Crab Shack this Sunday at 10:30.  He will send out an e-mail with the details.

 

                             George has also had several people request an add’l trip to Big Springs Gardens.  He will see what he can do.  The place closes for the last time on Sept 27th.

 

                             Has anyone seen our club banner???  Turns out it was in the meeting room at Denny’s – just not on display.

 

                             Jon Svilich talked about front license plate brackets for the C6’s.  His car is out in the parking lot with a new really nice bracket.  The fines for not displaying your front license plate has now gone upto $200-$300.  George Goolsby has the business card for the company that sells the one Jon has if you are interested.

 

                             Tom Krakker reported on 4 upcoming car shows:

 

                                      Aug 22nd – Rescue Volunteer Fire Assn Hot August Night

 

                                      Sept 5th – Zoom Zoom Woof Woof classic car show in El Dorado Hills,

                                      benefitting Canine Companions for Independence

 

Sept 12th – 37th Annual Wine, Cheese & Brew car show in El Dorado hills.

                                      Tom really recommends this event.  For $40 you receive 2 tickets for

                                      gourmet food, microbrew, wine and a band.  6pm to 11:30pm.

 

                                      Sept 19th – Sacto Classic Auto Show – Guide Dogs of America.

 

                             Information for all these events will be on our website or you can contact Tom.

                             Peggy Sue Croswhite would like to put on a changing of the colors run through Hope Valley on Oct 17th with a lunch or dinner stop at an Italian restaurant in Tahoe.  Lunch would run between $7-12 or dinner between $15-20.

 

                             Kathy Zastrow and her dog from Canine Companions for Independence talked about their 1st annual classic car show (information on our website)  and about their organization.  The dogs they train are used by anyone with a disability except blindness.  They train golden retrievers or labradors.  It takes about 18 months to train each dog.
