Meeting Minutes 08/09/05

 

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President, Phil Slack

OLD BUSINESS

 

Minutes:                     Motion to approve the minutes was seconded and approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Report by Jim Poe.  We started the July with a balance of $4,067.33.  $296.00 was deposited, $152.00 from the 4th of July 50/50 Raffle, $84.00 from July’s 50/50 Raffle and $60.00 in new membership fees.  Expenses as follows:  $84.00 donated to the Sacramento Police & Sheriff Memorial Ride, $163.90 for 4th of July party expense and $53.09 for Flowers for Club Member Mary Graham.  Ending balance is $4,062.34.

                                   

Secretary:                   Shannon Anderson – nothing to report

 

Clothing:                     Update on Cost to move vendors provided by Phil Slack.  New vendor is Champion Awards in Rancho Cordova.  They can set our logo up on a diskette for $185.00.  Clothing prices are similar to our current vendor.  Motion was made, seconded and approved to change vendors.

 

A suggestion was made to place a large clothing order and ask if the set up cost of $185.00 could be waived with the large order.

 

A suggestion was made by Chuck to add “California” to the logo. Chuck should bring a copy of the revised logo to the next meeting for discussion.

 

Easy-up Purchase:     Update provided by John Reese.  John was unable to find an easy-up as discussed in the 7/12/05 meeting.  A suggestion was made to look into purchasing one through California Car Cover.  John will keep looking.

 

 

July 15-17:                  21st SOCA Corvette Weekend, Grants Pass, Oregon  -- Attended by Gil & Donna Alcaraz, John & Kathy Reese and Phil & Shaylynne Slack.  There were 176 people registered for the event.  It was a great event!  The boat ride was fantastic.  There were no mishaps.  Gil & Donna broke down, but made it there.  The Langford’s attended.  Ann took 1st place with her convertible.

 

12th Annual Police & Sheriff Memorial Ride (Harley Run):

 

                                    The event went well.  There more than 3,500 registered for the run.  Harland attended the event and raised more than $1,100.00.  The club donated $84.00 toward this event and other club members donated as well.

 

July 28-31:                  Vettes on the Rockies, Breckenridge, Colorado – no attendance this year.  This is a recommended event for next year.

 

July 28-31:                  Vette Fest, Boise Idaho – Bob Naylor attend this event.  Events began Thursday and ran through Sunday morning.  There was a Police Escort, Corvette’s Only Parade, and Autocross.  There were approximately 160 cars.  Doubletree Hotel provided a good rate for this event at $89.00 per night.  See Bob for a booklet to review for the event.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

 

Web Master:              Pete Ruff – the “our cars” has been updated and the “winners circle” has been fixed.  There are 3 event photo pages working. 

 

                                    Phil will send the Oregon pictures to Pete to place on the website.

Aug 12-13, 2005:        6th Black Bette Gathering- Reno NV – No club host at this time.  No interested expressed in this event.

 

 

Aug 13, 2005:             Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce Corvette Car Show, Downtown Rio Vista.  Event cost is $32.00 for non-members.  This is an all Corvette Show or Show & Shine sponsored by Discovery Bay.  The Show starts at 8 AM with judging at 11 AM.

 

 

Aug. 20, 2005:            Hot August Nights, Rescue Fire Department.  No interest expressed.

 

 

August 27, 2005:        New Covenant Christian Ministries, Sacramento - “Classic & Corvette Car Show” 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. No interest expressed.

 

 

August 27, 2005:        Fort Bragg – Hosts Collier/Svilich – Barbara Collier will work on this for the weekend of August 27th.  There were 6 members interested.

 

 

Sept. 2-3, 2005:           Labor Day Weekend, 2nd “Red Vette Gathering”, Reno, NV.  No club host at this time.  No interest expressed.

 

 

Sept. 5, 2005:             Labor Day Parade, Diamond Springs  (Collier) – Meet at Pearl Drive.  Arrive at 12:00.  The Parade starts at 1:00 PM.  Bring lots of candy.  Barbara Collier will send more information via email.

 

 

Sept. 9-11, 2005:        6th Annual Cruisin’ in the Pines Car Show, Grass Valley (1972 and older American-Made Classic Vehicles) – No interest expressed.

 

 

Sept. 15-18, 2005:      37th Annual Lake Tahoe Tour (Fresno Corvettes) - (Brusby/Collier/Clemens).  Phil and Shaylynne Slack have a room; they will not be in town and cannot attend the event.  Pete Ruff will take the room.  Judy Hinz has rooms, contact her if you are interested in attending.

 

 

Sept. 25, 2005:           2nd Annual Angels Camp Picnic -  (Graham) – This has been postponed until Spring (May) 2006.

 

 

October 1, 2005:        Show & Shine/Fly-In, Cameron Park Airpark – A flyer has been posted on the website to register for this.  Bring Umbrella’s, it’s hot.  Pete Ruff volunteered to bring his easy-up if the club does not have one yet.

 

 

December 10, 2005:   Annual CPCC Christmas Party - (Davis/Hudgins/Groat).  The club received the first raffle prize for this event.  This is the year to be wild!  Mark your calendars.  See the Groats/Colliers if you have items to donate for the raffle.

 

 

 

FLOOR OPEN TO MEMBERS

 

New Events/Runs:     No new events were discussed.  A question was raised whether

guests could attend runs/events or members only.  Guests are welcome to attend!

 

Closing:                      Phil will be out of town for the next meeting.  Barbara Collier

will chair the meeting in his place.  Motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn the meeting

 

Raffle:                        50/50 Raffle - $78 to the club, $77 to the winner….Mark Brusby!!
