Meeting Minutes – March 8, 2005

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President, Phil Slack.

 

 

INTRODUCTIONS

OLD BUSINESS

 

Minutes:                                   A motion was made and seconded to approve the February 8, 2005 meeting minutes.  Motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:                   The Treasurer’s Report was given by Jim Poe.  Jim provided a new CPCC Treasurer’s Report dated 3/7/05.  Total new membership deposits, $210.00; 50/50 raffle deposit, $100.00, for a new club balance (at the end of February) of $3,508.33. 

 

                                                If anyone would like an updated club roster please let Jim know and he’ll get you one.  (Due to personal information on the rooster, Jim doesn’t want to make a bunch of copies and leave them on the tables at the restaurant.)

 

Secretary:                                 Shaylynne again asked if anyone would be willing to take over as secretary as this is her third year now and she really doesn’t have the time anymore.  Unfortunately, no one offered.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Web Master:                            Pete didn’t have anything new to report, only that members should check the website for upcoming events, etc.  Also, the McCoy’s have not been receiving any club emails.  Pete will look into it.

 

Club Historian:                          Keith not present.

 

New Business Continued:

 

Clothing:                                   Vicki was not present at the meeting but she had spoken with Phil regarding the problems with the current clothing vendor.  It was decided by a club vote that Vicki will change to a new vendor.  She needs to make sure that the Club owns its logo and that we get it back (both digital and hard copies).  Shaylynne will look in the “green file folder of club info.” to see if there is anything in there regarding the logo.

March 17 – 19, 2005              13th Annual Gambler’s Classic – (Paul & Barbara Hudgins)

                                               

                                                Paul & Barbara are departing Sacramento for Primm on Wednesday, March 16th.  Barbara distributed a rough itinerary to those who are interested in traveling with them.  The Davis’ and the Bethel’s will join them.  The Slack’s will leave on Thursday.

 

                                                If you haven’t already registered, registration fees are now $150.00.

 

                                                You must call Buffalo Bills Hotel to make your room reservations directly at 1-800-FUN-STOP.  Be sure to mention Corvettes of Bakersfield when making reservations.  Rate $45.00/night.

                                                Primm is about one hour south of Las Vegas.  There will be a poker run, BBQ, dance, lots of vendors, etc. – rain or shine.

                                                Jim Davis needs to know ASAP if you are attending this event as all extra rooms must be released tonight.

 

                                                Hilton Garden Inn in Gilroy for Friday night, April 8th.  Remember, you must call the Hilton directly to make your reservations at (408) 840-7000.  Make sure that you tell the receptionist that you are with the Cameron Park Corvette Club in order to get the group rate of $79.00 plus tax.

April 8 – 10, 2005                   25th Annual South Valley Corvettes, San Simeon Tour (Davis)

                                                Once you have made your reservations, you must notify the Davis’ of your confirmation number so that they can keep track of the rooms reserved.  It seems there is a bit of confusion with the night clerks when making these reservations, so if possible, call during the day.

 

                                                Courtesy Inn in San Simeon for Saturday, April 9th.  If you want one of these rooms, contact the Davis’ immediately. (Rate is $69.00 + tax).

 

                                                Group will depart from Bert’s Diner on Grantline Road at approx. 10:30 a.m. on Friday.  Everyone voted to stop at Pea Soup Anderson’s for lunch (Jim has arranged for separate checks) and to have a group dinner at the Hilton that night (Sylma is still working on getting a group reservations).  Also, there may or may not be a shuttle available from the Hilton to the factory outlets.

 

                                                If anyone has any questions about this trip, please contact Jim or Sylma Davis directly, as this event will take place before our next club meeting.

 

April 16, 2005                         Car Show at Family Chevrolet – (Phil Slack)

 

                                                Phil will finalize all arrangements with Family Chevrolet before the next meeting.  Everyone interested in attending should plan to be at Family Chevrolet by 10:00 am.  You should also plan on bringing a cooler for drinks, chairs and umbrellas (in case it rains or shines). 

 

                                                Family Chevrolet will advertise this event and provide a BBQ.  Phil to confirm if there will be a show-n-shine with trophies, or whether it is just a party!

 

 

April 30th – May 1st                Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis – (Braithwaite)

                                               

                                                Vicki was not present – more info. to follow at next meeting.

                                                Copperopolis is off of Hwy 4 near Angels Camp.  You do not have to play golf to go.  Rooms / Bungalows ranged from $100.00 to $295.00.  Golf fees ranged from $35.00 to $105.00 depending upon when you play.

                                                Bob & Pam Naylor have participated in this event in the past and said that it was really a lot of fun.  For those who are interested in traveling with them this year, they are departing on Wednesday, July 27th, and will stay in Winnemucca, Nevada; then travel into Boise on Thursday, July 28th.

September 15 – 18, 2005       37th Annual Tahoe Tour - Fresno Corvettes  (Collier/Brusby)

 

                                                This year’s theme is “Planet Corvette” (Outer Space).  Instead of hosting a courtesy room, the club decided to have a cocktail room to visit in between the courtesy rooms.  The club has nominated Julia Brusby to organize this event.  (Other members will assist). 

 

                                                Barbara also has a map of the Forest Inn Suites showing which rooms are good to reserve.  She’ll bring copies to the next meeting.  In the meantime, call Forest Inn Suites directly at (800) 822-5950 to make your hotel reservations.

                                                The date has been set for the 2nd Annual Angels Camp Picnic.  Mark your calendar now – more information to follow.

 

 

December 10, 2005                C.P.C.C. Christmas Party (Davis/Hudgins/Groat)

 

                                                The date for the 2005 Christmas Party is set for December 10th.  The Best Western and the DJ are already booked.  A vote was taken and everyone wanted Diane to do the catering again, so Sylma will contact her.

 

                                                Barbara H. reminded everyone to start looking for raffle prizes now.  Since the club has a pretty good balance in its account, the event coordinators will look into getting some nice raffle prizes, like maybe plane tickets somewhere?, or a Room & Show Package?.

Roster/Newsletter:                    It seems that no one is without e-mail now.  But if anyone needs copies of minutes, etc. please contact Shaylynne.

 

 

FLOOR OPEN TO MEMBERS

 

New Events / Ideas:                 

 

If you have an idea for a run on the spur of the moment, just call a few people on the roster and ask them to call a few people.  These runs are usually the most fun!  Or, you can e-mail everyone with a few days notice.

 

John & Kathy Reese are putting together a run for Saturday, March 12th to Napa and the Union Hotel for lunch in Occidental.  If you are interested in attending, meet at Brookfield’s Restaurant at Folsom Blvd. and Sunrise Blvd.  The group will depart at 9:30 a.m. so arrive early if you want to eat breakfast first.  You’ll be back to the Sacramento area between 5:00 & 6:00 p.m.  If you are planning on attending, please call John & Kathy at (916) 961-8123, so that they can arrange for a lunch reservation.

 

Shaylynne to add July 4th Parade and Picnic to the list of events, as well as the Labor Day Parade and December Toy Run.

 

 

 

 

Closing:                                    A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting; meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

 

                                                The next REGULAR Cameron Park Corvette Club Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Denny’s Restaurant in Cameron Park, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  (Come early if you want to eat dinner).   

 

50/50 Raffle:                             The 50/50 raffle brought in a total of $156.00.  $78.00 went to the club and $78.00 went to the winners of the raffle, Bob & Carole Burnley.
