Meeting Minutes – February 8, 2005

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President, Phil Slack.

 

 

INTRODUCTIONS

OLD BUSINESS

 

Minutes:                                   A motion was made and seconded to approve the January 11, 2005 meeting minutes.  Motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:                   The Treasurer’s Report was given by Jim Poe.  Jim provided a new CPCC Treasurer’s Report dated 2/7/05.  Total new membership deposits, $570.00; 50/50 raffle deposits, $130.00, miscellaneous deposits, $134.62, for a new club balance (at the end of January) of $3,198.33. 

 

                                                Bob needs to purchase raffle tickets.  He and Mary will donate them, no reimbursement will be required.  Thanks Bob & Mary!

 

                                                Jim also distributed an updated club roster.

 

Secretary:                                 Shaylynne again asked if anyone would be willing to take over as secretary as she has done it for two years now and really doesn’t have the time anymore.  Unfortunately, no one offered so Shaylynne will continue as secretary.

 

 

 

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Web Master:                            Web-site having a few problems, but he is on it.  Things should be up and running.

 

Club Historian:                          Anyone with photos is encouraged to get them to Keith for the photo albums.  Remember, anyone who has any club trophies or plaques are asked to bring them to the next meeting so that Phil and get them to Family Chevrolet.

 

Clothing:                                   Vicki has forms for shirts and jackets if anyone is interested.

Dates Unknown                      Car Show at Family Chevrolet – (Phil Slack)

 

                                                Phil met with Nick at Family Chevrolet to see if they would be interested in sponsoring a car show one weekend.  Saturday’s are good for them.  A vote was taken to see how many would want to participate.  Most everyone in attendance said yes. 

 

                                                April 2nd was everyone’s first choice and April 16th was a back-up date in case of rain.  Phil will meet with Family Chevrolet and then let Pete know of the exact date to post to the Web.

 

March 17 – 19, 2005              13th Annual Gambler’s Classic – (Paul & Barbara Hudgins)

                                               

                                                Paul & Barbara are departing Sacramento for Primm on Wednesday, March 16th.  Barbara distributed a rough itinerary to those who are interested in traveling with them.

 

                                                Others are departing on Thursday, March 17th.  (Slack’s for sure).

 

                                                Corvettes of Bakersfield will be hosting this event in Primm, Nevada.  If you haven’t already registered, registration fees are now $150.00.

 

                                                You must call Buffalo Bills Hotel to make your room reservations directly at 1-800-FUN-STOP.  Be sure to mention Corvettes of Bakersfield when making reservations.  Rate $45.00/night

                                                Primm is about one hour south of Las Vegas.  There will be a poker run, BBQ, dance, lots of vendors, etc. – rain or shine.  More information to follow.

April 8 – 10, 2005                   25th Annual South Valley Corvettes, San Simeon Tour (Davis)

                                               

                                                Jim Davis needs to know ASAP if you are attending this event as all extra rooms must be released my March 8th.

 

                                                Hilton Garden Inn in Gilroy for Friday night, April 8th.  Remember, you must call the Hilton directly to make your reservations at (408) 840-7000.  Make sure that you tell the receptionist that you are with the Cameron Park Corvette Club in order to get the group rate of $79.00 plus tax.   Once you have made your reservations, you must notify the Davis’ of your confirmation number so that they can keep track of the rooms reserved.  It seems there is a bit of confusion with the night clerks when making these reservations, so if possible, call during the day.

 

                                                Courtesy Inn in San Simeon for Saturday, April 9th.  If you want one of these rooms, contact the Davis’ immediately, as the rooms are going fast.  (Rate is $69.00 + tax).

 

                                                Group will depart from Bert’s Diner on Grantline Road in Wilton? At approx. 10:30 a.m. on Friday.  Everyone voted to stop at Pea Soup Anderson’s for lunch and to have a group dinner at the Hilton that night (Davis’ to make a group reservations).

 

April 30th – May 1st                Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis – (Braithwaite)

                                               

                                                Copperopolis is off of Hwy 4 near Angels Camp.  You do not have to play golf to go.  Vicki distributed copies of brochures which indicated rates for various room types as well as golf fees.  Rooms / Bungalows ranged from $100.00 to $295.00.  Golf fees ranged from $35.00 to $105.00 depending upon when you play.

May 27 – 28, 2005                 CHECKERBOARD” (Red & Black) Corvette Gathering

                                               

                                                Pam Naylor indicated that in the past, Rocky’s events have always been a lot of fun and very well organized.  For those who are interested in attending, follow instructions below.  It’s not clear yet just how many members from the club are planning on attending.

                                                Lankford’s are trying to obtain specifics on this event.  This event is always a really good run.  For those of you who are interested, maybe spend a few extra days with the Lankford’s on the return.  More information to follow.

September 15 – 18, 2005       37th Annual Tahoe Tour - Fresno Corvettes  (Collier/Brusby)

 

                                                This year’s theme is “Planet Corvette” (Outer Space).  Instead of hosting a courtesy room, the club decided to have a cocktail room to visit in between the courtesy rooms.  The club has nominated Julia Brusby to organize this event.  (Other members will assist). 

 

                                                Barbara also has a map of the Forest Inn Suites showing which rooms are good to reserve.  She’ll bring copies to the next meeting.

December 10, 2005                C.P.C.C. Christmas Party (Davis/Hudgins)

 

                                                The date for the 2005 Christmas Party is set for December 10th.  The Best Western and the DJ are already booked.  A vote was taken and everyone wanted Diane to do the catering again, so Sylma will contact her.

 

                                                Barbara H. reminded everyone to start looking for raffle prizes now.

Roster/Newsletter:                    It seems that no one is without e-mail now.  But if anyone needs copies of minutes, etc. please contact Shaylynne.

 

 

FLOOR OPEN TO MEMBERS

New Events / Ideas:                 

 

If you have an idea for a run on the spur of the moment, just call a few people on the roster and ask them to call a few people.  These runs are usually the most fun!  Or, you can e-mail everyone with a few days notice.

 

Add the 4th of July parade to the agenda.

 

 

 

New Events / Ideas, Continued:           

 

Bob Naylor brought in a flyer for “Vette Fest 2005 in Boise, IdahoJuly 28-31, 2005.  Depart Wednesday, July 27th, stay in Winnemucca, Nevada and travel into Boise on Thursday, July 28th.  For more information go to:  www.valleycorvettes.org.  Bob has participated in this in the past and it was a great event.  (He and Pam even bought a corvette at “Fairly Reliable Bob’s” – one of the events sponsors).

 

The club will try and organize a run to Fort Bragg in August sometime.  Barbara Collier will look into details.

 

Mary Graham will organize another picnic in Angels Camp on September 24th or 25th.  More information will follow.

 

 

Miscellaneous:

 

Phil mentioned that Kiplingers rated the Corvette as the #1 sports car in the world.  Road & Track rated the new C6 #1 out of the top 9 cars and Car & Driver rated it #2 behind the Porsche  Boxster (it changes lanes better).

 

 

 

Closing:                                    A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting; meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

 

                                                The next REGULAR Cameron Park Corvette Club Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Denny’s Restaurant in Cameron Park, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  (Come early if you want to eat dinner).   

 

50/50 Raffle:                             The 50/50 raffle brought in a total of $100.00.  $50.00 went to the club and $50.00 went to the winner of the raffle, Julia Brusby.

                                                (Or the total raffle was $200.00 and split 50/50 between Julia and the club – I couldn’t read my own writing).

 

                                                Another raffle took place for a Corvette T-Shirt donated by Barbara Collier, which Julia also won.
