July
 | July 4 Fourth of
July Picnic
Club Host - George Goolsby & Barbara Rogers
At the meeting on
March 11th, it was decided to not have the picnic on the
4th but instead go to Tahoe and watch the fireworks over the lake. You
can make reservations at the Lakeside Inn for the 4th of July. There
are rooms left if you hurry and make your reservations. They are
$199.00 for Friday night. We plan to sit outside of our rooms and
watch fireworks that night. We have not made dinner plans as of yet,
any suggestions? Ask for a ground level room out back so we can be
close together and can have our cars near our rooms. Let me know when
you make reservations and I will plan the trip up there if you want to
convoy. See a lot of you Sunday, otherwise have a great day.
Motel phone number: (775)588-7777
Meet at Safeway parking lot Cameron Park 9:00am, leave at 9:30am!

 | July 19 Chariots at the
Coliseum - All Corvette Auto-X Saturday in Oakland
Club Host - Larry Savio
From the Corvette Forum...
Everyone get ready.... Santa Clara Corvettes and Northern California
Corvette Association will be hosting an ALL CORVETTE Autocross on
Saturday, July 19th at the Oakland Coliseum.
The is the first time an All Corvette event has been run at Oakland.
SCCA regularly uses this GIANT surface, but we will be running an
event that is more 'horsepower friendly' than those Miata guys. The
Oakland Coliseum has THE BEST SURFACE of any Auto-X venue in Northern
California. This venue is very expensive to rent, so this could very
well be your only chance to run here with all Corvettes.
This is for Corvettes ONLY. Sorry Goatboy.
You must have a helmet with a Snell/DOT 1998 or later approval to run.
We do have a limited number of loaner helmets available.
Registration opens at 8am and the first run group / work group is at
9am. We will be allowed into the parking lot at 7am for setup. If
anyone wants to help out, we can always use extra hands to set and
chalk cones.
Price is $35 per driver for WSCC members and $40 for non-members.
Workgroups mandatory for all drivers.
VERY IMPORTANT: This event is in parking lot B. You must take the 66th
Avenue Exit. DO NOT take Heggenberger. You will not be able to get in
that way.

More club related information about this event will be posted as it
becomes available.

August
 | August 1-4
Thunder in the Mountains - British Columbia Corvette Club,
Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
No Club Host at this time
Now that Spring is
just around the corner, we thought that you might be planning your
Corvette summer right about now. If that’s the case, the BC Corvette
Club would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us at
Whistler in August for our annual celebration of all things Corvette.
This will be our 21st Thunder in the Mountains. The previous twenty
were great but this one is going to be even better. Over the years,
countless numbers of our Corvette friends from south of the border
have joined us to make the gathering something really special. This
year we’re going to fit in as much as possible with a reception on
Friday evening, a Show & Shine on Saturday, a banquet with a noted
guest speaker on Saturday evening and an Auto-Cross on Sunday. Monday
will be a day to enjoy a Whistler experience; one of countless outdoor
or indoor activities.
For those not wishing to participate in all of the Corvette events
there is lots to do. Whistler has it all: restaurants, great shopping,
spa visits, golfing – choice of 3 courses, fly fishing, walking,
hiking, white water rafting, canoeing, cycling of all types, ATV
tours, glacier tours, horseback riding, jet boating, swimming and mini
golf just to name a few. If you feel four days of the event will not
be enough time to take in Whistler, consider extra days to make a mini
vacation. You’re probably aware that Whistler will host the 2010
Olympic Winter Games and preparations are well under way.
Despite what we hear in the press, crossing the border is not a big
deal if you’re prepared. Certainly having a valid passport is the way
to go but there may be other options. Because there have been so many
changes to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, something our
governments have put together, log onto the US State Department
website and to the Canada Border Services website for current
information.
We’re looking forward to seeing you August 1st to 4th, so please start
planning to join us. Check out
www.BCCorvetteClub.ca under Events
for a flyer and registration form. We have added incentives for you to
get your completed registration in to us before March 31/08. Check out
the registration form for details. If you have any questions contact
Jim at
jimdwaugh@shaw.ca.
